FightingA Poem by Kaihlyn SilverAm I fighting others or myself? Or both?
Why do we pay heed to them?
Our hearts they would condemn. But we are scared, we are fearful. Despite the horrors, they remain cheerful. Why do I write "we", I ask. To write "I" would be, a simpler task. But I feel like I'm not alone. Are there others out there? Evil you don't condone? Seems like we're rare. Do you, too, hide away, Waiting for a time to stand? Do you want for the day To bring light to the land? Draped in night Yet still we fight For the light For what is right. They took too long To find out they're wrong. Shall we give them mercy, forgive? Or do they have but moments to live? An act within in act. Suspicion: what they lacked. Knowledge, a great paradox. When you know nothing, Everyone talks. But if I am naïve on the outside, And evil on the inside, What is deeper within myself? I know wrong from right. Yet I cloak myself in night To bring the ever awaited light. Live or die I will try. © 2014 Kaihlyn Silver |
