A Mourning Mother

A Poem by Ezekiel Silver

                  A mourning mother has grief.

                  A mourning mother has depression.

                  A mourning mother has agony.

                  A mourning mother has misery.

A mourning mother has no love left.

A mourning mother has no love left.

Great poem, but I have to disagree with the last sentence. To lose a child will break the heart of any mother, but if there is a second child, a mother could never turn her back on that child. To say there is no love left is to say in a way that the mother wouldn't love her second child. I guess it can be compared with a widow. They may hurt, but they will always be there for their children and continue to love then as strongly as ever. Once again, good poem.
