The Dead Rose Garden

The Dead Rose Garden

A Poem by Ezekiel Silver
"

Year poem was written: 2013

"

Decay has withered away all beauty,

leaving only it's dried bones behind.

Life has become only a distant memory here,

for death has sent it into exile.

A once great oasis of wonder and hope,

now only ruins from a time long ago.

It endured the impacts of time as best it could,

           but eventually lost all might.

This is one of nature's dismal graveyards,

           a utopia of tragedy.

All inspirations of joy and delight are gone,

this is home to sorrow and anguish now.

Amazing use of description. You made the poem come alive in vision and in thoughts. The above lines are powerful. Sad to watch something that was alive become dead. Thank you for the motivation to write tonight. A outstanding poem.
