The Lost Dog

The Lost Dog

A Poem by Ezekiel Silver
"

Year poem was written: 2013

"

      Ragged fur matted in mud,

          scampering across cracked roads.

Scavenging for rotten scraps of food,

          desperately clinging to life.

      Neglected and forgotten forever,

          left to struggle alone.

Hope seen as nothing but a flimsy myth,

          a notion abandoned long ago.

A victim of the cruelty in this world,

          suffering from the savagery.

An earthly angel of love beaten and broken,

ravaged into a symbol of despair.

Ezekiel Silver
I've been going through some writer's block for a while so this is my first piece in weeks.
