My Dear Friend Death

My Dear Friend Death

A Poem by Ezekiel Silver
"

Year poem was written: 2013

"
Time has cleaned me out of ignorance.
            Filling me with tragic wisdom.
Sorrow has dried my eyes of all tears.
            Numbing my heart of pain.

Darkness has turned from foe to friend.
Life will soon be a memory.
The afterlife holds a new journey.
            I find hope in age.

I welcome my oldest of companions.
           My dear friend Death.

This made me think of a man I knew when I was younger. He told me on more than one occasion that he was "Longing for the relief that Death would bring." I get the same feeling reading this piece as I did talking with him. Thanks for the stroll down memory lane. Wonderful.

To be quite honest, this sent chills down my spine. I am a person that fears Death, and to see you write it as something to be welcomed almost made me fearless and ready for the unseen future.

Though it starts off as something sad, you went on into growing some sort of salvation. You sought hope.

An amazing piece, truly is.
