Chapter 11: Ending with an ironic fate

Chapter 11: Ending with an ironic fate

A Chapter by Eyudo

The grave we needed to go to wasn’t much of a grave, it was the passageway to hell. It was hidden of course but that didn’t mean no one knew where it was. They had buried him alive there the first time and instead of just unburying himself he created the portal to hell from there. So the passage stood and that was where we were to go.

“But where is that?” Tj asked. I thought about it and where it was suppose to be last time and tried to transport us there. It didn’t work though. “Oh I forgot!” I aid aloud,” that stupid note, ‘you lose your powers on this night.’ I tried to get us there but I guess I can’t, sorry guys, I don’t know what to do otherwise.”

Amanda gave a loud and disturbing sigh and I looked at her. “Hello? Duh! I was given them too you know, I can do it. Did you forget it that?” she said impatiently. “Yes…” I said sorry. So I explained where it was and we readied to go. I got the S.P.A.C.E. box and was hopefully set for whatever we were in for.

So she transported us to the graveyard where it was. The graveyard was the oldest graveyard left in existence. It wasn’t in the best shape, but most graves could still be read. So we searched on and found the specific grave in the far back corner of the graveyard, almost to a point where no one would go to look.

“This is supposed to be where the original lake of fire God created to put the devil in was first made, but then God sunk it down deep. So deep that it went into another dimension we now call hell. And then this would be where Rob was supposed to subside until he would take over as the prophets said may happen without the hero.” Jennifer explained.

“Is everything about him true?” Christina asked. “It must be if he came back.” Jennifer said. Amanda sighed jealously. So I finally took Amanda aside for a moment and asked her why she was jealous and everything about that. Her response was this: “I AM NOT!” I sighed. I told her we all knew it but I was the only one willing to say something. Finally after a few minutes of argument she gave in. “Well I want you to like me best but she is so much smarter than me, I’m dumb!” She started crying. I gave her a hug and a kiss. “There are no ‘smart’ and ‘dumb’ people, only smart and dumb choices honey,” I said, “and so far you’ve made some pretty good ones.” She smiled a little and then we walked back over to the others who were investigating the gravesite.

I stepped on the grave spot in front of the tombstone and the ground sank in and then collapsed revealing a deep deep cavernous drop. The ground broke enough to swallow all of us in it. It was just a long deep drop downward. I don’t know how far it went, but it took at least a few minutes before we hit anything. We didn’t really land on anything, but were dropped into the portal that lead to hell. All we saw as we passed through the portal was fire.

When we exited we were in hell for the first time, and man was it hot! There were fires surrounding seemingly endless borders and the screams and moans of the condemned. And the lake of fire was in the center of all this. A boiling magma filled dirt hole of ungodliness.

The first thing we saw as we stood up off the ground was Rob, the devil, and Rob’s mother, plus their little pet. Their pet wasn’t just some little dog or anything, it was a huge, red, scaly, fire-breathing dragon. That wasn’t really a “normal” pet t o see but I guess when you’re the devil and the son it’s a fitting one at least.

“How the hell are you still alive?” Rob said in shock. I guess he figured us dead from the pyramid but the thing was that pyramid wasn’t much of an object compared to things in the past. “Um, we are and that’s all that matters. We aren’t here to tell you a bed time story rob.” I said. He was angry about that comment.

He growled and then his dragon roared. “Killer! Attack!” he yelled. I couldn’t believe he named it killer. That was stupid thought. Little time for thinking when the first wave of flames roared at us from his massive mouth. Tuck and rolling I came up with my handgun and fires three or four rounds all over to wherever on its body it hit. The issue was that dragon scales were one of the strongest substances and either the bullets bounced off and clinked as they hit the ground or they bent and became disfigured into twisted metal. Either way the bullets obviously weren’t gonna work.

I ran in circles to confuse him as I searched through the S.P.A.C.E. box rapidly looking for something better. Something I hadn’t realized was that over the time since we had first gotten it we had never replaced anything we used in it. So unfortunately there wasn’t much weaponry left that I could use on a huge ferocious beast like the red dragon.

The issue was we had all realized there wasn’t anything we could do. All we could use were worthless and childlike maneuvers and see what happened. So I thought about what to do for a second but that didn’t last. “Scatter!” I yelled, and everyone ran in separate directs in different ways to try to confuse it. Rob laughed with his evil little grin and waved a finger around. Suddenly the ground around about a hundred-yard circle all collapsed and the lake of fire flowed and filled the empty void around us he had created. He trapped us on an island with his pet. This was starting to look even grimmer. I panicked and shouted but over the next blast of fire specifically aimed at me my screams and yells were inaudible.

The fire came quick and even as I jumped I felt a burning sensation on my legs. When I hit the ground I looked at them to see from the knees down on my pants were disintegrated and my legs partially charred. I struggled to get up and limped off as the dragon chased Tj. Tj flailed his arms and ran in circles and the dragon watched and did nothing more, too confused. That moment was about the only chance we could get and even if we did defeat “Killer” we would still lose to Rob. Maybe Future Rob was wrong. Maybe we were suppose to die and let him nearly take over for the future to be as wonderful and peaceful and happy as it was. As much as the thought hurt I knew we would be rewarded if that was out fate.

Killer breathed in really deep for a final breath aimed for me. Amanda cried out, “Rob! Stop! The bad guy can’t win! Stop then and let us go!” she said in a final very desperate attempt to “win”. “Ha!” Rob laughed, “you’ll win when hell freezes over!” he said, and too this point Amanda didn’t seem to know what to do, but when she said that, the idea sparked.

“That can be arrange!” she said with a smirk. She closed her eyes tight as she could and tenses her muscles and focused entirely on the tundra and ices of the oceans. A cold wind whirled around her that started to widen its range it touched and she rose slightly off the ground slowly. It was obvious this took much power. She rose higher and the winds now engulfed most the area and we all shivered as it did. In a small ball of light that centered above her head formed and everything went silent as the winds died suddenly. The moment seemed forever, but was only a few seconds of no noise and no feeling. Then it happened.

A thunderous and echoing boom cut the air like nothing and the ball disintegrated into a wave of ice colored winds that rapidly moved across the whole area with a sweeping motion. Everything it touched in its path froze instantly and stayed that way captured in frozen waters like stone.

The wave headed towards Rob and his parents on their throne. Rob gasped at it but there was no use in escaping. The wave came too quick for him to do anything. It wiped over him and he froze with a look of anger and surprise on his face. There was nothing he could have done in that little bit of time. The waved whirled over him again and his parents and they were instantly frozen.

His pet dragon reared up at the last second with a roar and then the wave blew over him, freezing him reared up and flames spewing from his mouth. He was forever to be left in a statuesque form. The rest the wave crept over the rest the lake and the resistless molten fires cease to move. She had indeed frozen over hell as Rob had said was the only way to win.

Lucky for the rest of us she had shielded us from the burn of the cold so we were safe from its harm. She dropped from her position in the air and landed on her back on the ground. I got up and limped to her while everyone shook off the experience.

I knelt to her side and carefully cradled her. “Are you alright, can you breath and all baby?” I said, pushing her shoulder lightly. She turned a bit and opened her eyes while smiling. “Pretty ironic way to win huh?” she laughed but it turned into coughing. “I don’t think I have my power anymore…” she said, “I think I just used it all up…” she fainted after that and I picked her up with her limp head and body and carried her to the others.

As we stood together a circle of light on the ground became around us and rose up to form us in a tube of green light. It stood around us for a few minutes, and then slowly started to disintegrate downward into the ground. Out side the circle was no longer hell, but our yard and home now. Something brought us back since she no longer could.

Even though hell was frozen over and all was won, there was a chance later that hell would unfreeze someday and we may be needed again. But we had won again…barely. Christina moved in with us, that was nice, and everyone else still lived there with us. Luckily when I recreated our home I added a few things to make it livable for the many of us.

So now it is over. We kept the prophecy to make the future so good and no one died this time. All extra zombies we had never seen and unleashed creatures either returned to their graves or quieted and calmed and went back to wherever the creature may have called home. So we didn’t have to worry about them.

So it was over and Rob hadn’t won. Another adventure won even though we did it against our will. So maybe again we will be needed, and I know when that time comes again, (which I’m sure it will) we will do it again like it was nothing, because the world always needs a hero, and who says it can’t be a normal teenage boy? Everything will be normal till then, well, what we call normal…..
