as i listen to your word

as i listen to your word

A Poem by Eyudo

As I listen

To your word

Sitting on the grassy knoll

Subside of His hill

He stands upon it under a great tree

Preaching to them and preaching to me

The shade covers the whole thing

Now eyes watch Him intent

They all listen to the words He brings

On every moment they are bent

He says how things should be

And what His Father wants

He speaks of our creation from love

As His eyes slowly look above

His soft white robe flickers in the wind

As He speaks of every forgiven sin

His bearded face so kind and warm

Being the Shepard to calm the storm

Joy would fill our hearts

Knowing we are all safe

Because He says even in death

We live forever in our faith

“Only if you live the best you can,” He says

“And help others who seek me”

“Will you join me when I go”

“To my next final resting place”

No more hate, no more fear

No more dreary nights

No more demons, no trip to hell

A promise He is sure to keep

So I sit and smile

To what the messiah has to offer

Left his righteous voice be heard

As I listen to His word
