Deadly proposition:

The hunt begins

The moon came in the darkening sky and nothing more than a sliver of light and comfort were in its crescent shape, it was nearing the new moon. We slept restlessly; either nightmares or one eye lie on our guest for any unusually favored actions.

Finally, after our anticipation, the sun rose, slaying the moon back into its dark descent for the remaining hours of day. We all woke early, unable to sleep. Hours were left until this alleged time of no shadows. All we could really do is wait.

Time passed surprisingly fast, until the last agonizing hour. It was dragged on by our own thoughts and our uneasiness. Then it was, all shadows vanquished into light, the time we spoke of was no longer soon, it was now.

Silence once more came from our dry throats. Nerves were hit and stunned. Moments later, nothing. Our muscles loosened and we could move and breathe again. All this hype and nothing came?

Bruce stood hidden in a patch of bushes off to the right of us. We pretended not to see him as he probably thought we couldn’t or didn’t want us too.

The silence stayed, but our minds calmed. We relaxed. That was utterly destroyed by the sudden light quaking that that swiftly spread to under our feet. It strengthen a slight when thick black smog became visible in between two separate lines of shining machinery that were onward our way. One set on the ground, and one it the air.

Bruce jumped out from behind the bushes and landed next to Kalkan behind the rest of us. “There are my boys!” he excitedly shouted, raising a fist in the air in a celebratory way. “Right on time yo! I knew he’d do it and do it right!” he said, but his thoughts were interrupted by his phone ringing. He grabbed it out of his pocket and answered it in the same fashion as before. “Yo? Talk, what up? I can see you dead ahead. Keep on coming. But don’t land the copters. Were gonna be needing’em soon. Get as close as you can but watch out whatcha hit and run over. Right, bye.” He closed his phone and replaced it back into his pocket.

The machines neared and terror shed me of any comfort and joy I had in me. They were so scary and looks of intimidation they gave, even with no face and eyes. They were larger than us, black, and looked of evil and plot. They moved in whilst creating a path of destruction behind them. Grounds flattened, trees snapped like sticks. All the other animals ran.

These monsters seemed unstoppable. They were something of which the likes of I had never seen, and I never really wanted to. Their shadows created darkness over us, and even looking up the sun was still unable to be seen, blocked out completely.

I could not break my stare, as neither could the others. No one dared speak. After they stopped, the silence of the forest returned, but our voices stay blank. A tear slid down Spirit’s face. She, being the alpha female, was able to control herself and speak what all of us wanted to ask when we couldn’t. “What are these things!” she blurted out.

“Well, which one? We got 729-b copters, s-50 jeep, multi-terrain version, swat team grade holding cars, couple a army tanks, and gunned trucks with multi-ranged view and interchangeable ammo slots.” he said, then patted the side of one of the jeeps, “best equipment you can get. The black market can’t compare to where we get this stuff from.” He grinned as he finished. He looked proud of his stuff. Almost a little arrogant on it really.

“Why would you need all of this to just get home?” she asked. “Well my friends,” he started his dealing with, “I have a small proposition for you all.” Our minds open to hear him as our focus tightened. “I have a deal for ya. Here it is: I have my world-renowned show as I’ve told you, and I need some new material for it. It shows on TVs all over the world. Oh, and TVs are boxes that show video, moving pictures, from one place to whatever TV is on.” I was glad he explained what TV was, I had honestly never heard of one before. “How would you nine like to come with me in the city to be a part of my show? We’d travel the whole world instead of just always being here. You’ll get all the free food you want without ever having to hunt it, way better shelter, always warm and clean too.” His list went on a littler further, but nothing of importance to mention.

I saw more humans start to emerge from the tops and sides of the machines on the ground. Males and females in black-leathered suites. They stood and watched our negotiations. There were at least one hundred of them, then the ones in the flying machines.

“So what do you say?” he finished. We all turned our heads to each other. “I don’t know about that.” Spirit spoke, we let her speak for us out of trust. “Come on, no more dank life style of these woods. You get what you want when you want it. Seriously, I’ve got some extra money to blow. I’m rich! Wouldn’t that be cool if you were too?” he pushed. “No,” Spirit said without second thought, “we are happy here. We need not be spoiled by the human society.”

The humans in the black leather suites stared at us, almost like analyzing us with their eyes. They must have known what we were, their own gaze tattled on their thoughts and what they were thinking. “What did you say?” Bruce said in shock. “I say no, we will stay.” she repeated.

A sudden aura stabbed through us all. It shattered our stiffness. It was a distinct one too. It was a particularly strong aura or rage, disbelief, brutal strength, anger, control, and power beyond wildest belief. It was the aura of Bruce Bilyerd, the best extremist and most ruthless human ever to live.

“I’ll ask you again,” he said through gritted teeth and clenched fists, “come with me and be part of the show.” Spirit stepped forward. “No! We shall not go!” Spirit said. She was attempting to overshadow his aura with her own.

“Come on Bruce, maybe these kids are just playing tricks on you. Maybe they aren’t really human wolves.” one of the black-leathered suited men said. “Shut up you lackey! I know what I saw!” he snapped at the man.

“Traitor!” a yet to be heard voice yelled out, “that’s all you are!” it was Nikita, finally unpetrified of herself. “I trusted you too Bruce, and now you do this to us?” Topaz bravely said. “I never liked him to begin with.” Oakami hissed with a glare. We knew he never liked him. We all started to shout our disgust and disappointments about him at him.

He angered quickly and screamed back, “shut up you damn mutts! Either you come with us or we just take you! I tried to give you a chance to cooperate. I think you guys are pretty cool dudes and was tryin’ to be nice and gave you a choice, but never mind it all! Either way you’re going! That’s what all the machines are really for!” he said, a truth in which we predicted.

Instincts kicked in, it was a split second decision that something inside us told us to do. We ran. Shifting faster than ever and sped off even faster than that. We jettisoned off from the site, leaving the spectators, except Bruce of course, in a state of awe. They had now seen it to, the whole lot of them. We were in too deep with humans. They had seen it all. Mother was right when she said never to trust humans.  They knew all that never should have been known by anyone other than ourselves. They saw with their eyes, these witnesses to secrets never meant to be shared. There was nothing we could do now. Nothing at all.
