Chapter 46

The cure?

About a half an hour later or so, some one did come up to my room to get me. Derek came up and did some stuff to the room to return it to its original state. He un-boarded the treetop door, moved the door latch back to the right side of it, and then he finally unchained me!

We came down stairs still about ten minutes later, ya know, we needed a few minutes of private time. Anyways, ah, finally free. But the cure he couldn’t tell me still bothered me though. Whatever.

I basically spent the rest the day with my family. By the time I was able to come down it was too late for much else. I was kind of excited about going to bed that night. It would be the first night Derek and I could sleep in our new bed together. It was almost a real store bought bed. And for some anonymous reason, I felt tired very early that night. I went to bed fairly early that day. Derek decided to come on up later. He said it was too early for him then.

So, after one of the grossest dinners I had ever had, I trailed off upstairs. It really made my stomach turn just at the smell, but the taste actually made it hurt. I don’t know why it was so bad. It was like leftover leftovers that had gone bad slopped into a big pot, then to my plate. Yuck!

Up through the stair way then through the trap door. I slipped into my nice cool bed on that warm night. It felt good with the slight breeze drifting through the opened treetop escape door. I went out pretty quickly.

I did dream that night though. I dreamed of some odd things though. One was the unseen voices that were telling me phases. Each one just over and over almost to etch it into my mind.

“Everything’s fine, nothings wrong…..” one said to me. Another stated, “things are good, they will not get worse, I promise…..” Good stuff, just what I wanted to hear really. Just over and over repeatedly they said their encouraging words. And I could feel things too. I knew I was dreaming, but in my dreams, I felt wonderful feelings, not just emotional. At one time, I felt something soft against my skin, then something wet on the tip of my nose, the something rougher on my leg, and last, just the tingling sensation of my whole body vibrating somehow…..

Then I woke up in the dead of night. The first thing I thought was: the dream was right. Everything will be ok! I said it out loud, just a little too loud. Derek rolled over and said while rubbing his eyes, “so the treatment did work then I guess.” “Wait! The treatment? What was it?!?” I freaked out again.

“Relax, the treatment was a little weird, but actually very simple. Oh, first we had to feed you very nauseating food so we knew it would cause you to dream no matter what. Then we had to use our time while you were sleeping to whisper certain things to you and create physical sensations while you slept, using feathers, water, shaking the bed slightly, stuff like that. The doc said it would be like “resetting” your mind to its normal status before your issues. I hoped it worked, but he said only time can really tell that.” he explained.

I felt much better now knowing what they did and how easy it really was. But it did sound like it wouldn’t work; but then again, I was desperate and would give anything a try then. Hoping was all I did. But then I felt better about it. In fact, I felt so good and so much better about it; I went right back to sleep until morning.
