Chapter 21

Our fight

It surprisingly didn’t take him that long to reach the cabin after I called him. Although he was gasping for breath, most likely from running to me. He burst through the door harder than I’ve ever seen anyone do before. He almost broke the door again. He took one glance at me and made a terrible face at the sight of me.

He went over to and down into the pantry for something after he looked at me. He came up with the first aid and I guess I had to trust that he knew what he was doing. He shut the door and turned back around. He took a second look at me and shuttered, then he headed off somewhere else again.

This time, he came back a few minutes later with warm dry clothes and a big cup of water. He helped me off the couch and undressed me. I started to get dressed, but I was pretty sure he peeked at me. Typical guy. I finished up and sat back down once more to rest.

He turned around and sat down beside me, took my hands in his, looked me straight in the eyes, and said: “we need to talk Amber.” That didn’t sound good at all to me. “This is a real problem. You need some real help. You settled the score with the rumor and you still have the problem with the ritualistic thing. Do you have any idea how terrified I was to see you like that? You tried to attack me when I only tried to help you. Your intelligent enough, you should know what is best for you, right?” he said. He did seem awfully worried then.

I thought about it for a moment, and then decided what to say. “I don’t really have anything to say. I mean, you’re probably right, but I still have my doubts. I’m moreover confused.” I said. “You know Amber, I’m not really gonna give you a choice in this, right?” he said.  “What do you mean by what?” I asked. “Well, I’m going to get you help. And you’re going to cooperate so this will never happen again and get anymore out of hand than it already is. So, can I please have my cell phone so I can call some one to come get us? You need to comply with this.”

“Is that an order general?” I said sarcastically. “Yes, it is.” he said slowly and clearly as if I didn’t understand. “You can’t tell me what to do!” I said. “This time I can.” he replied. “This time huh? It starts with ’this time’ and ends with total domination!” I yelled. “Come one! Give me my damn cell phone already!” he yelled back, he was angry by then.

“No!” I screamed back. “It’s my phone and I said give it to me!” he yelled again. “Oh, so you wanna play the ’mine’ game do ya? Well then technically this was my cabin and my home!” I screamed. I was furious with him.

“Fine! So what! I need to get you some serious help so this won’t happen again!” he screamed as well. Definitely more than annoyed. “You can’t control me! I’m a free person, not a puppet to perform on your command.” I told him more calmly than before. “You’re being unreasonable here!” he said.

“Get out.” I said. “What?” “Get out.” I said again. “I’m not going anywhere.” He told me. “I didn’t ask you now did I? I told you. Now leave.” I kept firm. “But Amber…..” “I said leave!” I yelled, cutting him off. He simply looked into my eyes and saw the rage deep within me. He didn’t dare say anything else. He just turned around and walked to the door. He did so turn around one last time to look at the person who had cast him out. Then he left with no choices to choose.

I shut the door and locked it tight. I grabbed my PDO to check what the weather was going to be. It said partly cloudy and warm. “He’ll be fine then.” I said to myself. I set it back down and lay down on he couch to sleep again. I didn’t see the weather icon blinking on my PDO showing the rapid changes to horrendous thunderstorms ahead. If I would have looked at it instead of ignoring the beeping, I may have seen the screen tell me that the pounding rain and he gale force winds would leave even my cabin in trouble. It would be bad. After that, it would be a time to remember.
