Reverie

A Poem by Amaris Grove

A poem written for a friend who committed suicide.

Reverie

I dream of light and endless joy

In a world that plays with us like toys

I dream of happiness at last

Through all the shadows that are cast

Life begins and then it’s gone

Leaving memories in song

Waiting for the dream to end

Hoping reality will bend

Now I dream of morbid acts

Of those who just couldn’t hack

The life that drains us day by day

Spirits that just fade away

The dream that haunts repeats again

Dreams of joining you, my friend

Death is a release from pain

An end to all that feels the rain

Missed by many who will never forget

Talents lost, hearts full of regret

I write this in your memory

You will live on in our reveries

This poem is more like a remembrance of a dead person. It tells the story of people seeing their dead friends in their dreams.
I think that the poem is short, as if it has a missing piece and a bit rushed.
Great work!

A thoughtful and respectful memory and homage to one who has been lost!
There are those times when we do indeed feel the pain within the depths of our soul for one who is no longer with us! Suicide is so difficult to understand!
