The Signpost Of FaithA Poem by Anne KorhonenA Christian poem about John the BaptistRemember the word of Isaiah he predicted the days of Elijah The voice from a desert yells "Pave the way for the Lord, flatten the paths for Him!" About Jesus he was to tell like animals in nature he dwell He lived as a hermit He did everything by God's permit wearing a cloth of camel's fur and leather you ate grasshoppers and honey ain't better People came for you to be baptized, to wash away their sins You were to sanctify the lamb from David's kin Your father was old priest Zachariah whose wife couldn't bear a child but they both were obedient and devout so God sent His angel Gabriel for Zachariah's incense sacrifice but he couldn't believe his ears and eyes because Gabriel's news were so miraculous and cute So until John's birth he became mute He was more than a prophet but people claimed he had a bad spirit So king Herode arrested him to jail Because his wife wanted him to fail His end was sealed by Salome's dance Devil's whispers gave greed a chance But he appeared with Jesus and Moses on the Third Day His holiness will forever shine and stay Copyright 2017.
