The Hanged Saints

The Hanged Saints

A Poem by EyesIceBlood
"

St. Joseph Cafasso is the patron saint of prisons and prisoners. He once gave absolution to 60 criminals, and because they were just about to be led to the gallows he called them the "hanged saints".

Hanged Saints

I'm here to save the snakes

All the unwanted and refused

When you close my eyes you get the shakes

But you'll never be shunned or used

You've been cast down from your platform of steel

Now you suffer in a self-induced cage

I will teach you how to feel

It's okay to sometimes feel enraged

Emotions are your only friend

In this race against time

I'll kiss your eyes and watch them mend

You were once and still are mine

You're so special, can't you see

Without me you'll surely die

Now is the time to go free

Don't care if those around you ask why

Within me you'll find reprise

And a new place to call home

Outside of me life is something despised

And there's nothing you can call your own

Now close your eyes and feel my breath

You're life will never end

Even as you are lead to death

Heaven is where you will ascend
