This Feeling

This is some of my early work that I've recently revised. I wrote it in high school about... well you figure it out!

I have felt it before,

Of this much I'm sure.

The sudden speed of my heartbeat.

Butterflies aflutter inside me.

Exactly what is this feeling?

 

I know that I like it.

I feel safe, special, adored.

Not like the times I previously had it.

I felt scared, unimportant, bored.

If I like it, do I need to know the feeling?

 

I want to see you,

Every day of every week, month, and year.

Not all filled with the pain.

My heart not feeling sadness or fear.

Never do I want to stop this feeling.

 

I don't think I should feel this way.

You use to belong to another.

Another I love who could no longer stay.

With you I'd love to be but...

Should I have this feeling?
