A Poem by ExposedSiren

I remember some of my first opinions of this world, preconceived notions forming my
Understanding of the boundaries around me, as I
Sought to further push my awareness throughout this vast land.
Expecting to find adventures made of jewels, flowers, dragons and more, I
Deeply drank from the juice the novels spilled onto my tongue,
Thanked the fairies in my dreams for their visions of future me, and lived
Off of the wealth my music could bring me... I never thought that this
Belief of a world much more colorful than our own would drown me. I sat somewhere
Expecting that if I pushed hard enough,
Reality could comfort me, carry me to new dreams on beautiful metal wings, and
Envelop me in a hug made of something other than the tears of my family, rather than
Alienating me for my wishes and
Leaving me behind, whilst I still dared to dream.
Now I have lost those preconceived notions;
Along with my former dreams.
