The Rabbit Hole Wasn't Big Enough

The Rabbit Hole Wasn't Big Enough

A Poem by ExposedSiren

Every day I look in the mirror and scoff,
Because my appearance is a facade to the fairy forest deep inside,
My eyes sitting in place of freshly plucked hilltop,
My smile a simple distraction for the deathly rapids hiding within,
My skin waiting to be scratched off to reveal the stars and sunlight in my veins,
My brittle limbs anxious to be snapped in half like wishbones,
desires granted to the strongest bidder...

I look in the mirror, and I sigh, because looks are worth nothing to me,
and everything in this life....

But I still look into the sun, hoping for the light to illuminate my eyes.
