The Color of Hello

The Color of Hello

A Poem by ExposedSiren

With a greeting so universal,
It contains such a wonderful variable...
So many ways to meet up,
to catch up,
to sneak up,...
Its the gentle violet smoke that clings to you as you feel a whisper against your neck, their arms circling your waist.
Its the army of yellow butterflies surrounding a firm handshake,
or a wave from a stranger.
The low and cloudy gray of the truce you make after a long fight, or the call you place when you notice that empty space they used to stay...
Its the red in the rose petals found along the road on Valentine's day,
The bright green bow on a child's present that Christmas morning...
The green in the grass surrounding a picnic setting,
Or the deep dark blue of the night as the moon comes up.
Perhaps its the white of a brides dress as the man looks and sees his future...
Or the pink in the cheeks of a child playing the snow for the first time.
For all, I'm certain these colors vary,
Each shade catching the light in a new way...
Maybe, for some,
It is the shade in her eyes when you wake up in the morning,
Or
Maybe its the lovely tint in his as he stares into the sun.
This world is a rainbow,
With each expression drenched in paint and chalk...
Celebrate your colors, as
Variety is the spice of life.
With all these thoughts breaking free from within,
She wondered what colors he would see..
Chin tilted up, eyes made of a lemon scented yellow,
she turned around to smile at him,
Gently whispering "Hello"
