A Midnight Reflection

A Midnight Reflection

A Poem by ExposedSiren
"

Some things just stay with you.

"
Reality comes crashing down on me,
its oppressive weight proving to be much too heavy,
smothering and crushing me.
I can't stand this irrepressible,
unmanageable, overwhelming loss of control,
and I am just barely standing now...
Yet some part of this ride has me so awake,
so positively thrilled to be existing.
Reanimated, revived, and passionate once more...
Every message received opens the next door,
every step threatening and yet welcoming...
Oh! The danger that awaits me, the cliff at the end,
The drop And the crash And the splatter as I shatter after this fall...
Oh! The feeling of it all!
With beating heart and a cautious mind,
I'll follow you.
Guardian of this path,
Light the way.

This poem is amazing. I'm not just saying that, I really mean it. The words you used beautifully describe the roller coaster of emotions that come with life. I like how you went from describing it as irrepressible and overwheling loss of control to thrilling and passionate. "Every step threatening and yet welcoming..." I love that line! I loved every step of the journey that this poem took me on. Keep writing!!
