East or West: which is best?A Story by OmA biographical outline of one's identity - defined by their nationality/birthplace origin or where they have spent most of their life?
Where do I belong to? Having spent a significant portion of my life in the UK, India is a stark contrast to this. Here are the main differences, along with their respective advantages & disadvantages...
1. India is dirty...rats, insect/pest infestations in restaurants, dust & noise pollution on the roads; people spitting. So many flies & mosquitoes! 2. Impoverished: begging & poor infrastructure...heck even nowadays 24 hour water & electricity is not available: one has to manage with storage tanks & power inverters So far...Britain seems to be winning, however... 3. Both state & private medical healthcare is available: unlike the US or even Britain (where even going private warrants a GP referral...& even mild drugs need prescription). One is free to do as they please here in India, without a medical history trailing behind them, biasing clinicians. 4. Sense of liberty generally: ride motor vehicles under age (although roads are dangerous here in India)...do what you want (with a little money as a helping )... Why cannot the east & west merge to evoke the best of both worlds? © 2016 Om |
