Don't ask any questions from the doctor?!A Story by OmAn article outlining the domineering attitude of modern medicine
Today I was referred to what is supposedly to top medical institution in India - AIIMS.
I was admitted & when the doctor (Dr Runvijay & Dr Bholenath, both SRs) suggested I undress in front of other patients, I kindly requested for privacy. Next, I politely asked him to explain the procedure prior to giving consent. He blasted off & refused to treat me. " Tu khudi kar sakto" he said... I then approached the HOD of ED...Dr Praveen Aggarwal. He appeared calm & understanding. He requested to return to the ED for treatment. Procedure was undertaken with sister continually interrupting him again asking to abandon the procedure...? They refused to dress the open wound citing it was a "waste of time". What happened to basic infection control practices? I had to approach the HOD again in this matter who replied that I ask too many questions & always come to ED?! I really do think that many government sector doctors unnecessarily behave immaturely. That or they are possessed by devil...This is AIIMS we are referring to here! This is the second awful experience of healthcare in Delhi. Other cities such as Mumbai are much better. I think generally, there is a significant proportion of egoism amongst Delhites I am afraid to say. I myself am from Delhi but would never dream to behave in such a morbid & pathological way... I think these doctors would benefit from a psychiatric assessment of their mental state & perhaps counselling to address any insecurities they may have. This appears to be fuelling their cannibal like attitude. They consider themselves as supreme beings or gods, who need to be begged in order to offer treatment...how pathetic © 2016 OmAuthor's Note
