THE EMPTY SPACE BESIDE MEA Poem by DrDI was lost
in the ebony night That sucked
me in like quicksand Leaving me
without a raincheck or parachute Without a
key or a long last look. And I need
love more than ever now I need your
love More than
hope, sleep or a drink I need to
feast upon you once more Only you
could feed my hunger, Because love
has your face and body Because your
mouth is sweet And God made
no other eyes like yours. And because
you are gone I walk alone
in the depths of night And reach to
put my arm around The empty
space beside me A velvet sky
once was our parasol When we were
prone upon the fragrant grass Not knowing
that somewhere A clock was
timing us The curse of
cancer was invading her Stealing precious
moments And condemning
me to the dark wings of night Where memories
are better than life © 2023 DrD |
