Returning

Returning

A Poem by DrD
"

nostalgic

"

I have been away

It was never intended to be long

But the clock closed in like quicksand

Pages fell from the calendar

Old friends died

Or celebrated grandchildren

Or simply forgot about me.

I have been away to distant places

I walked where voices

Spoke tongues unknown

I ate things for the first time

And collected memories

And regrets

I have been away

Years have passed and now

My pen is unknown to most

But I have come home

And there is nothing prodigal about me

I have only returned, nothing more

Welcome back DrD. We have all missed you and your writings. I last saw where you went to Mexico, got married or something. Glad you are back home and writing. You must have a lot to tell and write about...

Reminds me of days of our lives
Like sands through the hourglass ......
this is a poignant mysterious personal deep poem
Enjoyed its mystery
