MIDNIGHT TALESA Poem by DrDMy dog circled twice and abandoned me to sleep And the circling of the clock Closes in on me like quicksand. The room is dark except for the glow of the fireplace Causing shadows to dance against the walls Like selva savages whirling in their frenzy. And my aloneness burdens my heart Evicting my soul to the chill of the night air.
It should not be like this, I know Twenty-one years should tarnish memories And strengthen resolve. But you are here as surely as the clock’s rhythm And I sense you beside me Your head resting on my shoulder. And again I will close the dark curtain of sleep Until morning when I await the lonely night.© 2016 DrD |
