I THINK OF US TONIGHT

I THINK OF US TONIGHT

A Poem by DrD

I think of us tonight

Of who we were

And what we did

When we tried so desperately

To stay in love

I think of us in gentle ways

Like slow currents

And whisper winds.

I remember with a smile

Your glance and moist lips

And if I could would I confess

The haunting you have brought

Upon my soul on nights like this?

As stars dance and the creek gossips

And I am so terribly alone

I think of us tonight

Bright ribbons of laughter

Sharing a pillow

And wondering as all grew still

If we could ever survive ourselves

This has such a Neruda fair to it, but minus the contrariness of his love, if you love me i'll love you but if you dont I won't lol, no this has all the brilliance of deep desire and none of the arrogance, beautiful lines each and all.

Bright ribbons of laughter not only share a pillow, but also tie it with a ribbon that is not meant to be cut loose.

The nights are too long, the memories overwhelm, and give us cause to question as you have in your beautiful words of a relationship that is no more. Even though we may wish with all our might we find we do not have the power to overcome that which becomes stronger than the desire within one's heart. An ending comes and we really never completely abandon the joy of it, the love that was shared!

Your words are striking, as they always are! "I Think Of Us Tonight" is perhaps more "Of every night"!

Tears here, as I read...
She must have been a special woman
A woman that stays. forever, in you heart and soul
"Bright ribbons of laughter" ..you write of a good memory
It's those good memories, that sometimes keep up warm
when we are oh so lonely...alone

Jazz xx
