THE STUDENTA Poem by DrDHe was a man of brilliance Unscathed by tradition or acceptance And while uncertain, still he prayed, “Dear God . . . . if there is a god, Please have mercy on my soul . . . . If I have a soul.”
“I cannot compromise belief”, he’d say “Because if humanity is God’s experiment It was a hopeless failure. Believe like me and find salvation Does little to sooth my soul Even though it does please my sense of humor”.
He was the crowned prince of cynics And yet . . . there was beauty within his agnostic soul And the sledge hammer words of logic and protest Dented the very fabric of all I had learned to believe And I grew insignificant upon an insignificant planet Dancing in circles around an insignificant sun © 2014 DrD |
