SITTING BESIDE THE POA Poem by DrDColumbines are decorating the hills, darling Reminding winter that it can never win And the Po is glassy and calm Keeping its currents secret as always Nothing changes in the manless world Blossoms repeat, waters flow, seasons doing encores Trees are publishing new leaves And the hawk circles and screams, “Where is she?”
The memories have grown weighty in time My step is no longer agile and fearless But sitting here beside the great river The earth welcomes me with its own sorrow As the waves are muffled and blossoms bow Clouds suddenly wear dark bellies And I examine my shadow alone and lonely And know it is time to retreat to now © 2014 DrDReviews
