I think about itA Poem by DrDI think about it sometimes . . . All we did together. The waiting in airports To go to places we did not know. Silently drinking coffee in the kitchen Because you couldn’t sleep. The way your hand Automatically sought mine And you sprinkling my face With happy kisses. I think about it sometimes.
Flying kites from city rooftops The carrousel in London Pulling my hand about your waist Even though you were deep in slumber. Watching you hold Brenda’s baby As if wishing it was your own The quiet times, walking in forests On beaches and the streets of night Words unsaid screaming to be heard Until spoken with a touch and kiss In a shadow where not even God was witness
I think about it sometimes The whispered words somehow kept sacred In the vault of my soul and conscience The depth of your starlit gaze More obvious than neon The summer night we slept among tall grasses Rather than to go home Watching you painted in sunlight Wet and glistening after a swim in the quarry And then, years later, closing your eyes forever.
