AwakeningA Poem by DrDLike
old Rip Van I went to sleep And
woke up just today I
went to see what time had reaped What
changes it had made We
once sexed now people texted Now
men had married men And
everything had me perplexed Because
nothing was like then. A
U.S. President of color, Who
would have imagined that? The
New York Yankees in the cellar What
had the years begat? Computers,
GPS and fax Talk
of colonies on Mars Google’s
vast source of facts And
solar powered cars The
f-word now used on TV The
morning after pill Gangman
style that pathetically Needs
help from Dr. Phil Shameless
are reality shows And rap
pretends to be song While
rehab is where starlets go When everything
goes wrong And Bonds
breaking Maris’ record With 73
chemical home runs As athletes
and sports are checkered By steroids
for everyone How
sad it is that Marilyn died What
did fame and fortune bring? And
who killed Kennedy besides Bobby
and Martin Luther King? And
Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, Pavarotti
and Rosa Parks And
Natalie Wood, she was a cute one What
tragedies the years had marked. Where
are the towers on the skyline That
touched the clouds with pride? It
can’t be true that men designed An
act where three thousand died. I do
not know this foreign place, The
sight just makes me weep Each
altered view I will erase By
returning to my sleep. © 2013 DrDReviews
