Arriving

Arriving

A Poem by DrD

The end of awareness came gently upon me
Like feather touches and a last, deep sigh
And the wealth of nothing was all I could see
In those moments just after I died.
The freedom of no longer being
Was ecstatic to my troubled soul
Yet questions lingered, somehow perceiving
Those things I did not yet know.

I saw no river or loved ones awaiting
As promised from pulpits and prayer
No senses of pain or love or hating
Was present in that wondrous somewhere.
I only knew that I had arrived
And found wonder in all that I saw
Without thought of what power had contrived
My place as part of the Great All.

Thanks for this.....I am no religious man but I still have this belief...or HOPE...that something lies beyond this mortal coil

I think all of us wonder what it would be like at the end or the beginning but this is an interesting view Dr. I have been off WC for a while and i finally came back a week ago and i just had to read your work and i'm glad i read this one; it gives me inspiration for a story i'm working on...great write!

I've been close, almost there..

Each of us have different ideas about that great beyond

I wonder if there will be punishment, or reward

Wish I knew where you r now.. and why you ponder the afters ..
