Too late

Too late

A Poem by DrD

One percenters, all dissenters
Singing the hymn of trust.
Homeless vagrants, shunned with flagrant
Disregard by all deeds unjust.
Corporate earnings never learning
Except to exploit and expand.
A Congress for sale and Wall Street prevails
While unemployment conquers the land.

Banks repossessed every twelfth address
In the neighborhoods of many states.
Children still find they are left behind
In the classrooms that don’t educate.
This is the nation whose lost reputation
Is consuming the fate of its youth.
But the people stay blind until one day they find
It’s too late to encounter the truth.
