Spendthrift Heart

Spendthrift Heart

A Poem by Red Brick Keshner
"

A thought on the squandering of our emotional resources, the premonition of a navel-gazer's trek toward emotional bankruptcy.

"
Spendthrift,

malingering
along
uncharted frontiers
liquid sorrow
bastes
unformed words
whose crystal
resonant vibrance
reverberates
within
a pilgrim soul
gaze once more
upon your
lint-filled navel
and share
the blossom
of heaving bosom
therein find
a brokenness
with no need of mending

This was tight, with a nice vocabulary and felt exceedingly modern. I like your style.

There are bits and pieces that I really enjoyed a lot in this (such as the navel-gazing!) but I really struggled to understand where I was at the end of the poem. And while I loved the picture (pretty cute!) it has a playful feel which I just don't find in the words themselves. Or maybe I'm being too stiff...

Thanks for sharing!
