Uncommon Courtesy

Uncommon Courtesy

A Poem by Red Brick Keshner

`

I know what it's like to write and to not be read -
It's much like to speak out and not be heard.

And then there is being read but not gotten back to
It's like greeting someone hello and they just walk right past you.

You are almost sure they heard you at such close proximity
And yet it seems you've been cloaked with invisibility.

So when you post all of your work with such ferocity,
Then expect to be acknowledged, why not extend the same courtesy?

Author's Note

Red Brick Keshner
We as a generation have the distinct privilege of reading and sharing literary works as they are created and lunched, as the are literally spouted, through the www. It behooves me that even with the opportunity to shout out at the author's we still don't grab the moment. Many of us would at times want to send over a message to great renowned artists like Shakespeare and that mob, but they aren't around to hear our comments/replies. Our fellow web poets are here, try to get word to the, if only because we can. Cheers, Freds.

P.S. For those of you that do, you are the lifeblood of this generation's artistic aspirations.

Finding this poem is quite ironic, because after you reviewed so much of my work (thanks) I was just now reading through your poems and finding one to review so I could return the favor; then I read this :).

More to the point, I liked the poem very much, and I'll keep it as a reminder to review other people's work more. It is indeed wonderful to have all the authors of the world connected. We should all take advantage of it.

Many a true word spoken here :)

I use this little write to remind myself to extend poetic courtesy whenever I am reading poetry on and off line. And it helps a good deal, for I am far from perfect as I would like to be.
