A Poem by Red Brick Keshner

I wait.
The waiting room is bare.
The window blinds are shut
and the door opens only in one direction.
Remember to leave it ajar
when you return.
I wait.

I like this brief poem - the brevity contrasting with the waiting in an understated way. I think I'd like it better if the door were left ajar upon leaving. After all, the poet is speaking to someone else (reminding him/her to leave the door ajar) so the person must also be in the waiting room, and therefore can only leave since the door opens in only one direction. Good poem.
