A Poem by Red Brick Keshner

Field of crop,

once a battlefield,
feeds a remnant -

young gave up lives
so this plot of land
might remain, fly its flag

and export

Blood bought grain... for little gain...

I spend a lot of time on battlefields of the American Civil War. Sometimes the wind whispers the hopes of the fallen. It is a joy to be allowed to serve those men who gave their lives. Sometimes, the words echoed on the wind are these: "we must teach them to respect this place."

Wonderful poem. My greatest respect to your grandfather.
