tears you could have cried

tears you could have cried

A Poem by redd Brick Keshner

Picking up the internal slack,
invoking an inward tension
that emboldens one to face the day
and the prospects of oncoming ones.
Wet cheeks reveal visible cues,
flipping calendars, leaf upon leaf:
          . . . existing surrenders,
like a sparkled after-rain,
bringing a moist crystalline relief
               that fills the cracks
and mends the broken places.

Beautiful. Tears bring so much relief. A complete release of hurt or sad emotion. I rarely cried as a child. In those days you didn’t, but I cry now. And what’s more, the young adults who live with me, know the importance of tears, especially the men in my household who used to think it a weakness. I see it as a strength. Oh yes, it helps to mend those broken places. A lovely piece you gave penned here Freds.

I relate to this one so much. As I age there are so many tears I could have cried, but did not, could not.
And sometimes I feel my insides leaking.
This is a really strong piece of writing.
