Chapter 5: The Mysterious Ink

To uncover the mole, Arin devised another cunning plan involving a mysterious ink. This ink, when used, would reveal hidden messages visible only under specific conditions. Arin distributed the ink to the scribes, instructing them to use it in their writings and observe any peculiarities that surfaced.

As the scribes used the mysterious ink, hidden patterns began to emerge. Certain words glowed with an eerie light, revealing the Puppeteer's subtle manipulations. The scent of the ink was sharp and metallic, filling the air as quills scratched against parchment. The marketplace buzzed with intrigue, the hum of voices mingling with the faint sound of rustling scrolls and the creak of worn wooden desks.

One evening, under the cloak of twilight, the scribes noticed something peculiar- among the sea of glowing scrolls, there were a few that remained untainted and glaringly devoid of the mysterious ink. These untouched scrolls stood out, their purity a stark contrast against the illuminated words around them. The keen-eyed scribe Eira, realising this anomaly, traced these unblemished scrolls back to an unassuming figure who had always been in the background. The mole had been identified- the Masked Puppeteer, hiding in plain sight all along.

Arin gathered the scribes in a secluded corner of the marketplace.

"We've noticed some scrolls remain untouched by the ink," he began.

"This is our chance to uncover the Puppeteer."

Eira, with a determined look, added, "We need to trace these scrolls back to their source. It's the only way to expose the manipulator."

The scribes nodded in agreement. They split into small groups, each tasked with discreetly observing those suspected of being the source of the untouched scrolls. The marketplace, usually bustling with lively exchanges, now carried an undercurrent of tension and watchful eyes.
