verse on a hill

verse on a hill

A Poem by Red Brick Keshner

A known quantity bereft of quality;
a name of little beyond its letters,
by road’s shoulder perhaps guide

to openly weep a slippery slope
of once having known someone’s art
yet lay hold naught of their heart

eternally flowing river of kindnesses
shall meander, thoughts ever caress
even when words and faces now drift

a familiar feeling remains here still
years invested this regenerating gift
lines and verse ever ascend that hill

Like a photo that does not contain the original, only a two dimentional reflection of reality. Your poem captures the hollowness of the present day world and its fascade. All fake and plastic shaped for impressions and disposable. Kindness, generosity, love are what lasts and are no longer marketable. Very nicely written my friend

Wow, that is gorgeous. "thoughts ever caress even when words and faces now drift" What a poignant way to say you have kind thoughts about someone even though you no longer recall the words exchanged, nor clearly see their face anymore.

I really like the unusual scenes you meld together to tell your story.

The poetry was so good my dear friend.
"eternally flowing river of kindnesses

The above lines were my favorite. Said everything needed. If we had more concern and kindness. Our world would be a better place my dear friend.

Thanks Julie. Truly inspiring words and encouragement 🙏🏻
poetry without heart might get us a name...
but the feeling is missing, and the name will gradually disappear from memory.
It is the words that are important, much more than the poet.
The words.
I want to climb this hill, Red.

As do I, j! There seems to always be that height yet to be conquered!
