for humans an empty nest could cause sorrow...
for winged creatures there is happiness because it means the offspring learned to fly on their own.

When human children grow and fly on their own, they don't literally have wings...but they certainly
are free to find their own branches on which to settle.

We all have a sort of nest with our mothers , from when born

Thanks Stuart. I am glad that you pointed out the link to our mothers, although unmentioned is an intuitive connection to nests and nesting. That said, the secondary mention of cuckoos of which there are many. Thanks for your insightful comment.

Thanks Frederick , I never mentioned an intuitive connection to nests and nesting , thanks for being understanding , I’m embarrassed to say ,I have little experience of building Nests or Nesting , tho I’ve climbed a tree when young , came close to a nest and it’s eggs , that’s my only near experience

Winged creatures often return to the tree where the empty nest is, it must be a built in homing device lol.
Whoever invented the phrase "Family tree" was spot on .... that is just how a tree grows and branches out , and many seeds fall and grow nearby.

Empty nest syndrome. Yes I have struggled with that, but find the chicks often return home frequently. Mother nature takes it all in her stride. When they are gone, they are gone. Nice visual layout again Frederick.
