Set This Captive Free

Set This Captive Free

A Poem by Red Brick Keshner

'

there need not be iron bars
to keep a heart imprisoned
there is no white flag of surrender
nor o-d, nor cutting would resolve

nor does the coming-off of chains make one trully free
the stench of blood curdled cold
staining my cheek with ferrous-ity

on that flee bitten bunk each unforgiving night
a plaintive prayer wafts in upward draft
to rejoin the fraying bonds of you and me

no prison bars my mind and heart could hold
no gruesome sight my countenance would melt
if we but have a moment pure as gold

True freedom comes from within, to overcome yourself, your fears, pains, all the negative emotions. to enjoy the now as it is, focus on the moment, that would bring us peace. and this is what your poem speaks to me. Wonderfully done.

Frederick,

Me thinks that thou hast set to pen of page a piece of poetry that speaks of a willingness to endure even misery for that chance, that hope, that longing for the return of ecstasy ... Well done ...!

Quite rightly so! Thanks for having thus deduced. /Frederick
Very clever. This has a wonderful rhythm, and this is an intriguing take on lust. Well done!

A moment of sheer and utter blissful love... What a different take on lust! Short, sweet, potent! Good Job!
