Then poet-god said, “Let Us make poets in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the sheet of a pad, over the leaves of a tome, and over the airwaves, over all the earth and over every corner of the worldwide web.”
And the Poet lived one hundred and thirty years, and begot a Mentoree in his own likeness, after his image, and named him Poet2.
“You shall not make for yourself a graven verse" any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth;
lest you act corruptly and make for yourselves a graven image in the form of any figure: the likeness of male or female, unless otherwise authorised by your Mentor.
Do not lie to each other, since you have taken off your old poet-self with its old practices and have put on the new poetself, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator: Poetgod.
Cute. A little unpolitical-ly correct/religious humor. Thanks for the laugh. Great work. *note: I'm not sure if 'unpolitically' is even a word but you get what I'm saying.

You are much appreciated.
This fits in with your declaration on your profile 'I don't read or write poetry, I live it'. There are subtle twists in this that can change the path of interpretation brilliantly. Great Work

The path of interpretation I find to be varied and filled with opportunity. Why most people choose the easier, narrow, and the least resisting path is amazing. Not to mention disappointing. Maybe the greatest treasure of simple poems, any poem really, is the ability to discern nuance and subtleties. Then the reading of it becomes a journey and an experience rather than a looking glass that reflects what we already know and espouse or reject. Perhaps there are two basic types of reading of any given poem, (1) self reflective and the other (2) explorative. Some readers have the rare knack of doing both, perhaps delving into the second before coming back to ground zero and reflecting on its individual impact on the reader rather than focusing on the possible new horizon that each poem is able to offer. Thanks again, for your thoughtful and kind words.

I personally think that when you start dressing your emotions in barbie doll outfits the truth gets covered up. Keats, Edgar Allan Poe, Robert Burns and the like are amazing poets. There is a reason though why poetry is only the subject for a small minority of the population, its too damn hard to connect with. Unless you have Masters in English or an interest in Poetry you are not going to bother. A true poem written from the soul can grab a soul and open it up like a can of beans. Eden Harpers 'Just-there girl' does not over complicate with metaphors or similes. Absolutely anyone can pick that work up and feel clearly in what she is feeling. I love 1950/60 rhythm and Blues. Jonny Cash Kriss Krisstofferson, Don Mclean and the like, wrote songs that were so simple and pure you could feel there emotion dripping through the speakers. You could hear the cotton pickers in the field just breathing out their anguish and frustration. Humanity has become a bunch of individuals trying to get by. If we strip back all the unnecessary complications we will see that emotion is the most common thing that makes us one and the same. Expression of that pure emotion will bring us together. Its the only reason I share my works, I know I am not an amazing author and never will I be. But I share so that some other out there may see something in my words and realize that all the pain they have is not unique to them. This releases you from that burden of loneliness and for me loneliness was the most scary and agonizing emotion as I was growing up. I was saved from the darkness by the words Of Cash, Dylan, Dickenson, Lennon and a lot of Ronnie Van Zant. Music was my poetry because I looked a poetry and had no idea what they were banging on about. Time to steal poetry back from the educated and elite and place it pack where it belongs, in the heart and soul of the brave.

It isn't so much inspired by religion but uses religion as a backddrop, or springboard, if you will, hence the real possibility that it might offend some readers. It can be taken/received in quite a few ways, which is why I have refrained from posting it up for the longest time. Thanks so much for your feedback and that personal note. Cheers man!

I was inferring that it was semi-inspired by the linguistics chosen, and so you know, my position is of an ignostic/atheist. So my not taking offense may be because of that, my more or less laid back attitude towards life, or my take that all art is beautiful and complimentary (and your poetry definitely qualifies). But, as a backdrop, it is also appropriate and lovely in poetry. Happy New Year!

I can only imagine what effect we truly can have on others, seeing that as an agnostic-atheist, you have pickedup the salient details of the poem. One of the subthemes of this poem is that religion need not have deity or structured liturgies or hierarchy to qualify as a religion. My belief is that each person is a religion unto themself, same aa possessing a philosophy of life & a world view unique to ourselves. Good to catch up even on an unusual topic of discussion. Happ New Year, my friend.
Perhaps poetry is the only palpitation of my thoughts and experiences. It becomes a commentary, a puppet theatre on what is observable and discernible from the vast expanse of the human condition. Eac.. more..
