Blues Fire CoachA Story by Ellen PiehlSt. Louis Blues Fire Ken HitchcockKen Hitchcock The St. Louis Blue's, general manager, Doug Armstrong has fired head coach, Ken Hitchcock and hired Mike Yeo as his replacement. Yeo was promoted from being the Blue's associate coach. With the Blues struggling this year, it is no surprise to hockey fans, such as myself,f that Hitchcock got the boot. In the five seasons that Hitchcock was behind the bench, the Blues were in the playoffs, including, a trip to the Western Conference Final last spring. It was the furthest Hitchcock ever took the team during the postseason. Hitchcock has 781 wins and is ranked fourth in NHL history in that category. He has coached over 1000 games (1,453) in his NHL career. Hitchcock coached the Dallas Star for seven seasons and help the team win their first Stanley Cup Championship in 1999. Before coaching St. Louis, Hitchcock coached the Columbus Blue Jackets for four seasons. Hitchcock also coached the Philadelphia Flyers. © 2017 Ellen Piehl |
