Independence Day

A Poem by Ewen A Morrison

Updated version: Là na Neo-eisimeileachd!

Là na Neo-eisimeileachd!

Possibly, the reader can't read/pronounce
Yet writing's a peaceful style to announce
What's written here in my second language
Hope you'll excuse the mistakes in usage

Here you'll spot faulty bilingualism, perhaps
I'd be amazed if rhymes well, without cracks
If my parents were still alive, perhaps they
Would be unsettled by Gaelic's weaker display

Unraveling Kingdom (UK), certainly withering
Independence's natural resumed non-bickering
Scotland/Alba to regain original world place
Là na Neo-eisimeileachd, doing it with grace

I would say good luck to that Ewan. There will of course have to be a second referendum. Maybe next time it will work out in your favour. You certainly hail from a beautiful part of the UK. I have visited several times and my mum and dad lived in West Lothian for a number of years. We have proud Scots in our family and we are the richer for it.

My ancestors were Jacobites. And in the course of mapping my family tree, I have added 53 ancestors to my folder "Died at the battle of Flodden" .
Never giving up is a very good thing, in my estimation. It pays off in the end, in one way or another, always.
You originally wrote this in Scots Gaelic?

Have long awaited a definitive decision and action toward Scots independence. It's been a long time coming. Thanks for sharing, /Frederick.
