A Clouded DecisionA Poem by EvolutionMan
Three bottles...three shots,Like all pioneers,
he sat and he stared as he swallowed his fears... He slammed the glass down on the whiskey stained bar, Screamed"gimme another," and found the keys to his car. His time here was done, they denied him "one more." He stood and he staggered as he searched for the door. Alas! he had found it,his coffin made from steel. certainty was apon him as he fondled the wheel. A little to the left, or was it to the right? Hard to see the lines against the oncoming lights. A crash and a bang and it was all done. A brilliant ray of light like the flash from a gun. He awoke in a room to the echoes of life and there, which stood before him,...was a mother and a wife. She spoke from the heart with bandages unspared. Told him of the damages and how they couldn't be repaired. She told him a story of a family and there fun.. of how he'd stolen the joy of two daughters and a son. Now her weapon holstered,it was his turn to speak. he fought for words of comfort but his heart was too weak. He glanced around the room for an answer to be told, and found only the mechanical lungs that fed life to his soul. These words were all he said to the lady now in tears. "Please forgive my soul, for stealing all those years." With the power source so close, he jerked at the mighty cable. With this final gesture,...his wife smiled as best as able.
