The Unmelting MindA Poem by E.V. BlackSeconds melt in my mouth. Time burns throughout my mortal body.Seconds melt in my mouth. Time burns throughout my mortal body. It withers away my physical existence with each breath I take. Before I know it, I am older than I feel. My mind is truly what I am, but my body feels differently.
The impulses of youth flutter through me. I tamper down many of them because they are foolish. I feel foolish when I deny myself some of these foolish pleasures. What I make of them is mine. Time is mine, though it melts. The mind never melts, as time often does, but is the immortal predecessor. © 2012 E.V. BlackAuthor's Note
