The Unmelting Mind

The Unmelting Mind

A Poem by E.V. Black
"

Seconds melt in my mouth. Time burns throughout my mortal body.

"

Seconds melt

in my mouth.

Time burns throughout

my mortal body.

It withers away

my physical existence

with each breath I take.

Before I know it,

I am older than I feel.

My mind is truly

what I am,

but my body

feels differently.

The impulses of youth

flutter through me.

I tamper down

many of them because

they are foolish.

I feel foolish when

I deny myself

some of these foolish pleasures.

What I make of them

is mine.

Time is mine,

though it melts.

The mind never melts,

as time often does,

but is the immortal

predecessor.

Sometimes I really wish that I could stop time. Good luck with that.

Time and tide wait for no man nor woman so enjoy it never deny yourself the simple childish pleasures like puddle stomping or laughing at rainbows, lifes too short to be adult about things so smile laugh sing dance as the only one whom can judge your actions is God and he would prefere not to see you unhappy. Keep em' coming

Time, the tyrant to us all but then time is illusion...if only we could convince our physical shell of that as well as the soul...
