Speak Quietly

Speak Quietly

A Poem by E.V. Black
"

Speak quietly for the night listens.

"

Speak quietly

for the night listens.

Its silence is still,

waiting for the words

that will surely come.

The animals in the trees

rustle gently in

their own garbled language

of movement and drowsiness.

The breeze rustles

through the trees,

a whisper of reeds

to a silent serenade.

Speak quietly

for the night listens.

this is so beautiful! the descriptive words add a soothing, quieting feel to the beauty of the poem; nature is, after all, a beauty in itself, and you captured it in words. great work, great poem, good job!

I like the tranquil feel of this piece. It is soothing and relaxing. The night does listen if we are willing to let it.
