RavennaA Poem by E.V. BlackThe loss engraves its name into my tender soul. The loss engraves its name into my tender soul. What was once is now never-more. Her eyes of silver haunted my waking dreams. I could not believe it was her, my beautiful Ravenna.
She had left me in an instant, not a second left for breath. The ailment was unknown, but she refused to give in. Ravenna fought against the threatening pallor of flesh and the weakness that came with standing. Sometimes, as she said, colored dots fluttered over her vision before she followed with a faint.
My young bride, of only two months, did not survive. My young heart yearns for what it can never have. My dear Ravenna is gone. © 2012 E.V. BlackAuthor's Note
