Infection

Infection

A Poem by E.V. Black
"

Trickling and oozing blood in streams; limbs tearing apart at their seams.

"

Trickling and oozing

blood in streams;

limbs tearing apart

at their seams.

Moans and growls

echo in the night.

Bared teeth are

frighteningly white.

The predators move

in awkward stumbles

as their prey

for safety fumbles.

Their eyes are wide,

wide in fear,

and desperation falls

in heavy tears.

Spare a life!

jut a one.

Alas, the predators

have too much fun.

Their merciless eyes

move in still

to sate a hunger

that will never fill.

The prey scrambles

for protection;

the disease grows

to infection.

Once infected,

it would spread

through the heart

and to the head.

As it consumes,

all is forgot;

the escape was

all for naught.
