My Heart Sings

My Heart Sings

A Poem by E.V. Black
"

My heart sings, like the birds outside, of the tunes of spring and a mirthful stride.

"

My heart sings,

like the birds outside,

of the tunes of spring

and a mirthful stride.

My soul rises,

like the bright dawn,

to escape a demise

brought by a yawn.

My being flies

into true gladness;

I cast my eyes

away from pure sadness.

Destruction and death

may be what I write,

but, more, I savor the breath

of my soul’s life.
