Betrayal

Betrayal

A Poem by E.V. Black
"

Nothing tastes fouler than the bitter agony of deceit.

"

Nothing tastes fouler

than the bitter agony

of deceit.

It crawls and slithers

down to the cave

where it entombed me

for all eternity.

Had I known

it was going to

get this bad,

I would have stopped

while I was ahead.

Yet, your betrayal

was not my fault.

You chose,

just as we all do,

to go down that path.

You tore yourself away

from me

and, instead, chose

to listen to the doubts

implanted by your paranoia.

Would I leave you?

Would the world

not love you?

The only one you

left that day was

yourself,

crying out in misery

in the middle of

the storm.

We are both

trapped and alone,

but I am the

only one who sees

the light filtering through

the agony of your betrayal.

I can at least hope

for a beauteous world.

You are too afraid

to trust to know

what you have missed.

Thank you all for your patience! Time has constrained me, and I must focus on important things. Right now a lull exists. I will post and comment as much as I can.
