Separated

Separated

A Poem by E.V. Black
"

Two lovers separated by death.

"

My love.

Where are you,

my love?

It’s dark.                    My love.

I cannot breathe,       Where are you,

though my lungs        my love?

move.                        Gone from my

                                  arms and into

Hollowness                the dark depths of

fills the void.             the grave.

Only unbearable

sadness remains.        The terrestrial world

I can’t be                   is worthless now

there with you           without you here

by your side.              by my side.

You were my

life, my breath.                      breath, my life.

Now I am                  Now you are

empty.

My love.                    My love.

I drown in

perpetual darkness,    the tears of

which enshrouds        a thousand sad seas.

my eyes.

My soul aches

for what it is              for what it can

deprived of.               no longer have.

We were once

one being.

Now

we are separated.

Author's Note

E.V. Black
Forgive the structure. It was better when I typed it up on MW. It is intended to be a poem featuring two voices, in this case a dead lover and her living beau.
